A pparticular brand of Hiphop is super popular right now, so we HAVE TO HATE IT. 

we have a bunch of ‘Hiphop heads’ crying about how HIPHOP IS DEAD, claiming they dont listen to anything new, yet ironically bitch that everything sounds the same. (How would you know).

Nevertheless, Recent events in Hiphop have taken HATE to a new level.

Firstly there was Lil Wanye claiming he was the greatest rapper alive and MTV’s Hottest MC list had Internet going Nutz.

The crowning of Wayne has taken the level of hate to new heights. It sent the hate meter into overload.

Its even got Radio DJ’s flexing their hate muscle.

It makes me wonder if people actually realize hiphop and music in      general is part of the  entertainment busniess.  People say shit to get noticed. To get a buzz, to get people talking. I mean, im sure Wayne is confident about his rapping skill. But these people say shit to get noticed. AND ITS WORKING. Everyone has an opinion on wayne now and writing 12 page diatribes about how much they hate the guy.

Now we have the whole ’9/11′, 50 vs. Kanye situation. 50 says if he sells less than Kanye he’ll quit Music. People have gone crazy starting petitions to BUY KANYES ALBUM. Swearing theyre gonna buy 4 Kanye albums just so he outsells 50.

Rather than understand that this event is good for hiphop and the music biz in general.

Rather than understand that this is all publicity.

Niggas couldnt wait to start hating.

The sad thing is , after Kanye does outsells Fif and is all over the Media.  Everyone’s gonna start hating on KANYE.

When you actually look at its, Can’t Tell Me Nothin’, Stronger,                                          AYO Technology, I Get Money , Straight to the Bank, Amusement Park are all good well constructed songs.

In an attempt to Rebel against the Music thats currently most popular .  It’s now become commonplace to brand ANY ‘conscious’ *see:Granola* Artist to be DOPE. Even if they might have Fallen off years ago, like say…The Roots, or just plain suck…like say, Nyoil or Immortal “Mr.No flow, 100 words per minute, everything is a conspiracy, droppin the N-Bomb every 2-seconds” Technique.

Alotta granola rap has just fallen off. Thats the truth of the situation, and Alot of what once was seen as Militant or Conscious Rap music, has now become Starbucks hiphop..or as i like to call it. Hiphop Easy Listening.

Now that brings me to the latest album of The Walking Gap Commercial Himself. Mr Common Sense.

 Let me start off by saying , im actually a fan of Common. I think he’s a really good rapper.

I even think 2005′s BE was definately worthy of 5 mics.  And after hearing ‘The People’ , my hopes were high.

But I listened to his album and i have to say it is very disappointing……. light and fluffy.

Yet, to my disbelief, it’s been gettin rave reviews and its got the interweb’s going NUTZ.

 It seems like it’s got to the point where you have to say granola rap albums are good no matter what, in order to seem credible or look like you know what you are talking about.

This needs to stop.

Just because some raps about the streets doesnt mean they suck.

Just because someone raps about flowers, or some emo shit,  or a                 conspiracy thoery.

Doesn’t make them dope.

 And them being ‘different’ isn’t enough reason to label them dope.

Going against the grain for the sake of it , is just as lame as following                                   the crowd.

Especially if your shit is snoozville.

Lupe Fiasco didn’t save Hiphop.

But thats a whole other arguement for a whole other Blog entry.

After my initial disgust at hearing a 50+ year old women talk about booty.

It got me thinking.

I remember hearing the older generation of black women complainging that they didnt feel beautiful because there were never images of beautiful black women in the media, only white women.

They grew up wanting to be white and would put towels on their heads to look like barbie and the beautiful women on TV.

Now i see beautiful black women on tv everyday. Of all shades and types…Ranging from Alisha keys, Beyonce , down to your average Video Hoe.

I could only wish there was more of this when i was younger. Maybe instead of me thinking Pamela Anderson was Hot. I’d have posters of Buff the Body Under my bed.

Not only that. These women CHOOSE to be in these music videos.

Some get paid handsomly and make a pretty good living… for others it can even lead to acting roles in hiphop movies or TV Shows..

Quite frankly, if it werent for HipHop these women would not be on TV and would have huge amounts of trouble finding any other ‘traditional’*see:white* modelling/TV work.

Hiphop has carved an opening and a nice little nieche for these women.

Mainsteam Media has now embraced the voluptuous figure. (They attest it to J-Lo but we know who it really was).

I would like to thank hiphop for allowing black women to be as celebrated, worshipped and as sexual as their white counterparts.

who needs FHM when i can now read King?

Critics, Convienient Male Feminists and flat out Hiphop Haters say hiphop videos degraded black women. I say otherwise.

Now young black women all over know they can be beautiful too.

Whats worse? A hiphop video or Playboy?

A hiphop video or porn?

A hiphop video or girls gone wild?

A hiphop video or Page 3 or the daily sport in the UK?

Hiphop doesnt make you a hoe, it doesnt turn a girl into a deadbeat mother.
HIPHOP IS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE WORLDS PROBLEMS.

Everytime i see a hot black chick in a video i smile….and get slightly aroused. Apparently thats a bad thing?

In 20 years time , white kids from the suburbs of the south will be making crunk music with a live band , obscure radiohead / coldpLay samples and be labelling it ‘Progressive’.

They’ll claim what they’re doing is “real crunk music” and the current “crunk” is too corporate and mainstream. Even though the kids from the places where crunk started are still listening to “maintream crunk music”.

They’ll say crunk forefathers like lil jon and lil boosie made real crunk , and represented crunk culture , but todays artists dont do that. Old crunk acts will start doing tours of Alternative Rock Music Festivals, catering to their new found fans.

 all the trendy magazines will have them on cover stories , PitchFork Media, URB, SPIN and White people will lap it up.

I mean , I was always under the impression that most Emo/Nerd Rappers resented the fact they make and are influence by Black Music & Culture and they would much rather be in a Rock/Emo band anyways.. ( I mean’ it’ll be hard for any white person to admit that right? Especially without looking like a wigger.)

 When Chris Rock said there was a civil war in the black community.  (Black People vs Niggers)

He overlooked the fact that the battle has also made its way into the music of the black community.

The uninformed may claim its a battle between “Real Hiphop” (aka Granola Rap) versus “Rap Music” aka (Southern Hiphop, Hiphop that sells the most, apparently to white people, but ironically is the music that most black people listen to.)

Granolas are easily identifiable.

Many can be seen sporting a Dilla Changed my life Tshirt ,                          Even though most couldn’t tell you 2 songs he produced, before he died outside of the Q-Tip album.

•  Their favorite catchphrases are “They making us look bad!”, “Y’all should get lynched!”, ” Look at them coonin’ “, ”FUCK BET”, “Fill-in-the-blank Set us back 400 years”, and “That’s why white people think we’re all FILL-IN-THE-BLANK”.

• They are pro-black but hate niggers,  rap, soul food, and well…..basically anything BLACK. (No Uncle Ruckus)

• They believe that Thug Rap and Gangsta Rap is a conspiracy, created by the white record execs to brainwash the black youth.

• They speak ‘properly’ and dress ‘properly’ (whatever that is) .

• They listen to Old Skool hiphop when hiphop was real, Lil Brother , The Roots, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye, Common, Talib Kweli, Musiq Soulchild, Floetry, etc.

Strangely enough they also dickride white artists and culture jackers like, Coldplay, Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone, Lily Allen , Nikka Costa , John Mayer (the new Phil Collins) , and Robin Thicke.

(someone please explain that one to me?)

• Along with Oprah, Al Sharpton, Delores C Tucker and Bill Cosby, their views by pure irony sometimes co-sign and can be mistaken with the views of Bill O’Rielly and other white Nationalists. (But they’ll never admit it though.)

• They also want all black entertainment to be like the Cosby Show. And can never involve dancing (even though hiphop satarted out as party music), or having a good time, Otherwise it makes black people look bad.

Because we all know, white people are the judge and jury of anything and everything. And black ppl must live their lives to appease them because they are forever in judgement.
